Bristol-based band Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine have dropped a burst of psychedelic pop in the form of ‘Magic Hill’. The quintet are known for their psychedelic take on post-punk, but have allowed their latest single to wander in a more euphoric, shiny direction. It’s a tranquil offering filled with hazy synths, unique soundscapes and blissful melodies presented in nostalgic 60s-style harmony. “This song is the colours you see in an altered state and about the experience of that particular journey. I wrote this because I watched a video of this Welsh guy probably near to where I’m from. He basically walked his dog up a hill and took some mushrooms from the surrounding field and it looked like he was having a good time.” Keep an eye out for Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine’s upcoming debut EP, A Good Way To Get Yourself Killed, when it drops on July 5th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
